Tonight we are having a Mid Winter Christmas Dinner with a fairly big group of friends. It is a potluck style meal so I have made some dinner rolls and a salad. I love making these pull apart dinner rolls but for the first time added some herbs and garlic for a bit of flavour. You can use any bread recipe really, and then just roll them into little balls, placing three in a greased muffin tin. I usually use an Edmonds recipe but I tried this Martha Stewart recipe today. I doubled her recipe, substituted one of the cups of plain flour for wholemeal flour for a bit of flavour and texture, and rose the dough in a slightly warm oven rather than overnight in the fridge. On the tops I brushed egg wash (egg yolk and water) and some chopped oregano, thyme and basil with crushed garlic. The bread is very light and fluffy, so it turned out to be a great recipe from Martha. We are out the door now to our party!
