Ebbs and flows

Today I am taking a moment to reflect on my Grandmother. We had a tough time in January when she passed away a few days after Israel was born, and they never got to meet each other. She was blessed to have already had five great grandchildren and saw what next three generations were following her. It is interesting how common I have heard people share that a similar situation occurred in their family, with one person coming and one person going. Life is so precious and you can’t help but realise that regardless of whether one is coming or going. We have a responsibility to live life well, knowing that each day is not a certainty.

This photo was taken on my Grandmothers 80th birthday holiday, her first ever “proper” birthday. Her birthday is December 25th, so Christmas has always overshadowed her own celebrations. For her 80th we went away for a holiday and celebrated her birthday instead of Christmas… and it was such a highlight that she continued to speak about this celebration for the next four years! Never underestimate what simple gestures can really impact someone.
