Do you think babies have great working memories? Israel spent 6 weeks in hospital from February to April, as we discovered he had a bone infection in his shoulder called Osteomyelitis. We still don’t know how he got it. He made such a great recovery but we had to stay until the full course of antibiotics were finished. Today he had his 6 week follow up appointment. As he lay there having his X-rays, I wondered if he could recall being there only 6 weeks ago. I wondered if he even recognised his previous home, where at one point he had spent more time there than at our own home. I wondered whether he remembered having to starve several times for general anaesthetics and surgery, have all his scans, blood tests, lumber puncture and constant disruptions.
Apart from a wee scar in his shoulder, I am confident that at least he will never remember when he is older!
